With over 7 years of experience as an experienced entrepreneur, consultant and freelancer. Rafael Costa is a man with a wealth of knowledge in the Digital Marketing field.

With the recent success of Rafael Costa’s social media marketing agency ‘Infuse Growth’ I sat down and spoke to Rafael about digital marketing, viral social media growth and his future goals, here’s what we spoke about;

How did you first get into entrepreneurship?

In 2013 after I had 3 years of working in sales and marketing, I decided to start doing some consultancy and freelance work to gain some experience and understand if I could bring value to other businesses, and use my experience and understanding of marketing and sales to grow businesses. For me, besides being an experience, it proved to me, that I could bring value to start ups by creating new sales strategies to businesses, helping brick and mortar businesses succeed online, and businesses that were struggling with business development and marketing decisions to find solutions to challenging times. So I started Infuse Growth Ltd where since I started in September 2020 I have gained around 3 new business clients and looking to expand, Infuse Growth also owns Cutting Corners and My Friendly Cleaner, and it is looking to support this businesses expand with the support of digital marketing.

The social media of my business is related to my experience on Instagram and on Facebook, I have learned and educated many individuals within the last 2 years on social media, and decided to start a company to expand my client base and employ people.

How was your consultancy agency born? Did you have any prior experience building a business or is your digital marketing agency the first business you’ve ever founded?

I have started another business previously where I partnered with a few entrepreneurs in starting a security services company. I found that ethical hacking could be an industry that we could go into, however, it did not work according to plan. My consultancy was born from gaining experience through the 7 years of freelancing work I done to support companies, and my social media growth I have done in the last 3 years to get 12000 new followers on Instagram. My social media growth started as an experiment, and not as a viral growth, my goal was to understand if anyone could build their social media without having to be famous or going viral, so I could end up helping others with this.

There are also ways to go viral on social media, and as algorithms change and make it harder for your content to show up on others profiles, so you can end up selling and marketing yourself or your brand, it is great to be able to keep helping businesses understand what steps they need to take to be able to sell online with the help of social media.

What advice would you give to the younger entrepreneurs who are reading this looking to start their own digital marketing agency?

First, follow other entrepreneurs, which you can relate to, and become friends with people that have the same interests as you. With the world changing, and this unique situation we are all living the other option is to connect with people online and get learning from them. I learned through experience, and networking was valuable to myself, specially to gain the connections I needed to be successful. Build a network of people that you think are more intelligent and even better at what they do than you are, but always base the relationship on how you can help them, and not how they can help you. This is very important to understand as an entrepreneur and eventually you will see it will work out for you. This is just the first step to be successful.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I have a few projects planned, don’t want to give too much away right now, but my goal is to be able to help more people, and I am always dreaming big. Business wise, I want to have my business employing at least 10 people within the next 5 years and being able to work with companies that are at the top of their game. I don’t like to discuss finances to much, but if I can make a £1 million within the next 5 years, I will be happy.
